Several individuals have reportedly been kidnapped along the Omi-Odo Ara Road in Yagba West Local Government Area, Kogi State, local sources confirmed. The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, though the exact number of victims and their identities remain unverified.
Residents said security agencies have been alerted and urged nearby communities to exercise extreme caution, limit unnecessary movement, and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
This attack follows a similar incident in the area. On Sunday, Odo-Ere community experienced a coordinated night raid in which at least four residents were abducted. Those kidnapped included Engr. Shina Ajere, Mr. Kehinde Afolabi, Damilola Ogun, and a woman known locally as Iya Lara.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, believed to be heavily armed, moved from house to house firing sporadically. Another apartment reportedly bore bullet marks, though the assailants were unable to gain entry.
Residents described the events as chaotic and terrifying, calling on security agencies and the Kogi State Government to deploy more personnel and intensify efforts to secure the release of the abducted persons.
Odo-Ere and other communities in Yagba West have recently faced repeated attacks by armed groups, highlighting worsening insecurity and the vulnerability of rural communities in the state.
In a related incident, a pastor of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel) was kidnapped on Saturday while traveling to his farm in Okoro Gbedde, Ijumu Local Government Area, but was later released unharmed. The cleric was found abandoned in Aiyetoro Gbedde, and no ransom was reportedly paid for his release.
Authorities continue to investigate the latest abduction and have intensified security operations in the affected areas.
