Four Suspected ‘One-Chance’ Robbers to Face Trial in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced plans to arraign four suspects recently arrested for attempted kidnapping and robbery.

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects were apprehended in Dape Village after a report that a woman had been abducted and her captors demanded ₦1 million ransom.

Police operatives from Life Camp Division acted promptly, using digital and tactical intelligence, and arrested the suspects on October 9, 2025, following a near-deadly confrontation. Two victims were rescued, one of whom sustained multiple stab wounds and is receiving treatment at Gwarinpa General Hospital.

The suspects—Solomon Tanko, Samuel Audu, Chigozie Joseph, and Emmanuel Chidiebere—are believed to have carried out a series of ‘one-chance’ robberies in the Bannex and Kado areas, targeting passengers with a tinted-window vehicle. Prior to arrest, they reportedly robbed six victims.

Items recovered from them include 15 passports, two daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three pens.

The suspects will be formally charged in court after the ongoing investigation concludes. The FCT Police Commissioner commended the swift response of officers and urged residents to report incidents promptly to aid quick police intervention.

The phenomenon of one-chance robberies, where victims are picked up, robbed, and forced out of moving vehicles, has been a recurring menace in Abuja, highlighting the importance of early arrests and tactical intelligence.
